Mushroom Coffee

I’ve been using Shroomsy for a while, and it has become one of my favorite parts of my coffee routine. I love that the blend includes several types of mushrooms and is easy to make my own. My favorite way to drink it is with milk, a shot of espresso, and a little cinnamon. It tastes amazing, and I really enjoy how I feel after drinking it. Shroomsy has made my daily latte feel a little more special!

Really surprised by how good this tastes. Smooth, rich, and doesn’t have that weird “mushroom” flavor I was expecting. Definitely an easy swap for my regular coffee.

This is my first mushroom coffee experience. I thought it would have an earthy taste, but it is surprisingly sweet and not at all bitter like traditional black coffee. It slightly reminds me of an instant cappuccino mix that I had years ago, but can't remember the name. It is good cold or hot. It is drinkable by itself, but better with a splash of creamer. I did not need to use as much creamer as I would for coffee. Weirdly, it tastes very much like it has an artificial sugar in it, though there is none listed in the ingredient list. I like the blend of mushrooms, as they have a lot of benefits. I did not have the sustained energy or the pick-me-up that I get from coffee and was ready for a nap mid-morning. I think I will still drink this on occasion, but it won't be replacing my morning coffee on a regular basis.

With all the current trends, I was anxious to try one of these mushroom "coffees" and this was the first one that landed in my lap. I wasn't sure what to expect, knowing that while it's called "coffee," it really isn't coffee. And I'm not particularly fond of eating mushrooms, so don't get any in my diet.

The good news is (for those of you old enough to remember) this basically tastes like a store brand effort of General Foods International Coffee of an unknown flavor variety. Considering you're drinking mushrooms, this is great. It definitely has an instant coffee-with-creamer mix vibe, but I found it quite pleasant. It mixes easily and I have made it with plain hot water and also as a latte, with frothed milk.

For those who might complain that it's not really coffee, well, that's kind of the point. It's mushrooms that are really good for you, and it tastes like a fancy (if not a little cheesy) instant coffee mix. It's all good. You could probably mix it with drip/Keurig coffee and come out with a caffeinated version of a mushroom supplement. However, I have to say the one thing I noticed first and foremost after taking this, is a long-lived energy boost. Since it doesn't have caffeine, I wasn't expecting that. But much like coffee, I have had to take care just how close to bed I drink it.

One thing is for sure, and that is that mushrooms have been scientifically proven to have major benefits for humans. As someone who does not enjoy eating them, I am grateful for this mushroom coffee trend. Sure you can take capsules (and I have) but this feels more effective and really does have a caffeine-like effect. My mind was more stimulated, and for a longer, gentler time (more like matcha, if you know that kind of energy.)

I have no complaints and am very grateful to have been able to try out this product. It exceeded what I expected, and somehow was quite comforting in that it resembled a coffee creamer based instant coffee mix.

So, I knew nothing about mushroom coffee before this. My daughter said it tastes like dirt, which naturally made me want to try it even more. I also (foolishly) assumed it would be like regular coffee. Spoiler: it’s not.

When I opened it up, it looked like fancy instant cocoa powder. You just scoop a tablespoon into hot water or milk—no brewing, no filters, no barista degree needed. I used hot water from my Keurig and honestly, it wasn’t bad! It’s not quite coffee, not quite hot chocolate—more like an unsweetened mocha that went to a yoga retreat and came back all zen.

Since I like my drinks creamy, I added some non-dairy creamer, and boom—it became very drinkable. Still didn’t taste like coffee though. So if you’re expecting a Starbucks clone, slow your roll. Calling it “coffee” feels like a stretch, but hey, it didn’t taste like dirt either, so I’m calling that a win.

I also tried adding a spoonful to my regular coffee. Couldn’t really taste the mushroom over the usual brew—stealth health points, I guess.

Did it make me feel superhuman? Nope. No sudden bursts of energy or quantum physics revelations. But I do drink Red Bull a few times a week, so maybe my energy bar is just broken.

At $21.99, it’s a bit pricey for me, but if you’re curious about mushroom drinks, this is a decent place to start. The flavor was mild, it dissolved well, and I didn’t gag—which is high praise in the world of powdered health drinks.

One thing I wish they’d be clearer about is where the mushrooms actually come from. The label says distributed in the U.S., but a little Googling suggests Canada. Not a dealbreaker, just something I like to know.

Overall, I’m giving it five stars because it tasted good, was easy to make, didn’t taste like compost, and made me curious to try more mushroom drinks. So if you’ve got a friend who’s into wellness trends—or just someone you want to weird out with a mushroom latte—this could be the perfect gift.

I was pleasantly surprised by how good this mushroom coffee tastes! It has a smooth, rich flavor without being too “earthy”, and it blends easily with hot water or milk. I really enjoy the steady, calm energy it gives me, no jitters or crash like regular coffee. It’s become part of some of my mornings.
The only downside is that it’s a bit pricey for the amount you get, but the quality and ingredients definitely feel great. Overall, a good option if you want a healthier alternative to traditional coffee. In case of doubt, just give it a try!

This mushroom coffee tastes great, but smells incredible! I want to make it just for the smells! When mixed with cream and sugar, it’s creamy and earthy. Easy to prep. I’m happy to give it 5 stars.

Performance & Use:
30 servings with six mushrooms, MCT oil, coconut milk. Mixes quick in hot water, no clumps. Subtle coconut taste, not bitter. It’s a nice change from my Chickory/Barley coffee choice.

I ordered and received the SHROOMSY Mushroom Coffee – 6 Mushroom Superblend. This mushroom coffee comes in a convenient resealable pouch. I was a bit confused by the product calling itself mushroom coffee since there is no coffee listed in the ingredients on the back of the package, which you can see in my photos. This is a mixture of mushrooms, coconut, MCT oil and coconut milk. When mixed with hot water this dissolves well to make the drink. It tastes vaguely like sweet coffee with milk. The color is a dark off white. There is no mushroom taste. I'm not quite sure why this tastes so sweet since no sweetener is listed on the package. Drinking the Shroomsy Mushroom Coffee did not make me feel energized the way coffee does. Instead of drinking this mixed in hot water, it is better used as a powdered creamer with sweetener to be added to coffee, hot chocolate or even some strong teas.

I was curious to try this mushroom coffee because the ingredients sounded healthy and interesting. The idea of mixing mushrooms with coffee and MCT oil seemed like a nice energy boost.

But after drinking it, I felt a bit nauseous — it just didn’t sit well with me. The taste is also quite strong and earthy, not very smooth.

Overall, it might work for some people, but it wasn’t a good fit for me.

This is my first time trying mushroom coffee. I'm not 100% sure how I feel about this product. It tastes pretty good. It does not taste strongly of coffee. From the ingredients it doesn't appear to actually have any coffee in it. It has more sweetness than I expected and I don't see any sweeteners in the ingredients so this has me perplexed. It dissolves well. I did not notice any difference in my energy but I can say I did not get any jitters. I'm not sure if I'll finish this because I get an aftertaste similar to what I notice after consuming artificial sweetener. Perhaps that's just from the mushrooms. I am unsure of the quality or sourcing of the ingredients. It does appear to be a better value than some of the other options available. I gave four stars since it tastes decent and dissolves well.

This is the second mushroom coffee I’ve tried and it’s so much better tasting than the first one I tried!

PROS:
-smells great as a powder and mixed into hot water. Doesn’t have a strong mushroom broth smell like the other brand I tried.
-dissolves well
-tastes pretty good as is or with added creamer/sweetener. It’s not a gourmet cup of coffee but let’s face it, a coffee snob likely wouldn’t be buying a powdered mushroom coffee.

NEUTRAL:
-this company should reconsider the packaging. With the powder settling, my hand was fist deep into the bag to get the first serving out. A shorter bag would be much easier and less messy.
-directions say to add a heaping tablespoon (6g) to 8-10oz of water. I weighed a level to scant tbsp to be 7g and thought it was watery tasting with 10oz. Easily adjusted to taste but it does lower the serving size having to use more powder.

Overall, I really like this mushroom coffee and would consider purchasing it again!
